One Day I'll Fly Away is a 1980 single written by Joe Sample and Will Jennings and released by American singer Randy Crawford. It reached #2 on the UK charts and #1 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Use in the film[]

Satine sings it as she contemplates being with Christian and her longing to leave the Moulin Rouge. Christian sees her and leaves his apartment to join her on top of the Elephant, giving her a fright as she finishes the song as she does not hear him appear behind her.

Release[]

The film version with dialogue appears on the first soundtrack while a remixed version by Tony Phillips, which was released as the radio mix, appears on the second soundtrack.
