The Duke of Monroth is the film's primary antagonist. He is a rich nobleman, who lusted after Satine.
Biography[]
The duke was a selfish and vile man. He took the only thing good about life away from two young lovers. After realizing that he was cut off from Satine's love since it was for another with the help of a jealous dancer, he was furious and he insisted Satine be his like a bitch. There is a particular scene in which the duke intends to abduct Satine after she sees Christian and realizes she can't go through with it but she is saved by another Moulin Rouge bohemian man. The duke doesn't find out Satine has died and he leaves. The story ends shortly after.
